The Hollywood Walk of Fame, sometimes known as the “Walk of Fame,” is an important part of Los Angeles history. A carefully selected group of names, each representing one’s contributions to the city, is enshrined on a plaque located in a designated area within Hollywood. Like other Los Angeles historic sites, they are not open to the public but can be toured for a number of inexpensive events.

In addition to being a tourist attraction, the Hollywood Walk of Fame was created to honor those who made contributions to the entertainment industry. Famous stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Greta Garbo were given special recognition by the local council and later on their contributions were included in the dedication ceremonies. The foundation established in 1976.

It also has a historic presence with houses dating back to the turn of the century.

Buena Park is right in the heart of Hollywood. There are some great shopping, dining, and cultural attractions in this central location. You’ll also find some great affordable dining, and the water parks make this a terrific area to visit with kids.

Downtown is one of the oldest parts of the city, and Hollywood Boulevard is the focal point for this area. It runs north-south, south-north, and east-west, running past the studios until it meets Wilshire Boulevard. This boulevard takes you past the most important sights in the entertainment industry. The Hollywood Walk of Fame sits along this route, where stars are honored for contributions to their careers.
